The 10th Annual Independence Uncorked Wine Festival presented by Edward Jones will be held on September, 9th, 2023 from 1:00pm-6:00pm on the grounds of the Historic Bingham-Waggoner Estate in Independence, MO. Independence Uncorked will be one of the largest Missouri wine festivals in the state featuring 23 Missouri wineries sampling several of their wines, a guest spirits distiller, and over 2500 attendees.   The day will also feature art, music, beer, food booths and wine classes. The event hosted by the Rotary Club of Eastern Independence.   The cost will be $35 in advance and $45 at the door and will include a wine glass and 6 bottle wine bag (for 1st 2000 people). The Bingham-Waggoner Estate is an 1852 mansion and estate once owned by George Caleb Bingham, the famous Missouri artist. Proceeds from the events will go towards various national and local charities supported by Rotary. Beneficiaries have included the McCoy Park all-inclusive Play Ground, Great Plains SPCA, Community Services League, Independence School District Character Plus Program, Special Olympics, Shoes for Orphan Soles, Shelter Box, Job One, CAPA, Hope House, Rotary Youth Camp and the Rotary Foundation, Drumm Farm for Kids and Restoration House of Greater Kansas City-Ending Human Trafficking .
Our club received a District Grant to help to revamp the employee breakroom at Job One.  For more than 50 years, Job One has been providing opportunities for adults with disabilities. We were formed in 2011 from the merger of two organizations, IBS Industries and Foundation Workshop ––both with decades of service helping people with disabilities. These two organizations (founded in 1967) came together to expand employment opportunities, take advantage of joint marketing and sales efforts, and to create a more efficient and cost-effective agency. As a result, Job One is one of the largest and most programmatically diverse business of its kind in the state. Nearly 40% of Job One employees work in community settings and that number is growing each year! Thanks to a committed board of directors, hardworking staff, and outstanding employees we are poised for growth and program innovation.
