At the 2019 6040 District Foundation Dinner, our nightly little club was recognized as the Klinginsmith Cup for having received the Presidential Citation for the Rotary year and making the highest per capital contribution to the Rotary Foundation Annual Fun during the Rotary year.  With a per capital giving of $475.00 per member!  In addition, we received every single possible recognition that any club can receive. These are:
  • Star Club - Level 4 & Highest Per Capital Giving Club - contributed an average of $400 or more per member to the Rotary Foundation
  • End Polio Now Level 1 ($1500/per club) $ Level 2 - $50 per captial
  • TRF Giving Banner for clubs that had 100% participation in TRF Giving to the Rotary Foundation
  • We thank our Past President Sonci Bleckinger for her leadership through this award-winning and life changing Rotary Year.

In 1985, Rotary declared war on Polio. Today, we're THIS CLOSE to eradicating this disease from the face of the earth. World Polio Day is October 24, 2019. To increase awareness, we will co-host the Independence World Polio Day Commemoration event on October 16, 2019 at the BlendWell Community Cafe in Independence from 5:30-7:00.  Join polio survivors, medical professionals and Rotarians who have spent time on the front lines in the fight to end polio.  This is a FREE event and refreshments, knowledge and inspiration will be provided.  Join us!  #PeopleofAction#TogetherWeTransform

The Eastern Independence Rotary Club annually presents the “Rotarian of the Year Bob Jones Memorial Award”.  This award, which was named for Bob Jones, a club member who passed away in 2008, was established the following year and is presented annually to the club member who most exemplifies the values of Rotary.  These members will have taken leadership positions, displaying high ethical standards, showing a dedication to fostering new ideas, and embracing opportunities to be of service on  community and global projects.
The Eastern Independence Rotary Club annually presents the  “Service Above Self Award Randy High Memorial” to a member for outstanding commitment to service and giving back to the community.  The award was established in memory of club member Randy High, who passed away in 2014.
The Rotary Club of Eastern Independence truly embodies the ideals of Rotary International. There is never a shortage of fun or fellowship at our meetings, service projects, or social events. Over the years, the Club has remained dedicated to being "boots on the ground" to address the needs of our community. Whether it's cleaning pool furniture at Rotary Camp, painting and landscaping public schools for Project Shine, sorting and boxing nonperishable goods at Harvesters, or ringing bells for the Salvation Army, the members of the Rotary Club of Eastern Independence are leaders in the community, volunteering their time, talents, and treasures to make a positive impact on the greater community in which we all live, work and play.
