Welcome to our newest member Dave Johnson. Dave is the Fire Academy Coordinator at Blue River Community College. Dave lives in Grain Valley.     

Winefest Update

The first Independence Uncorked planning meeting is Friday, February 20 at 7:30 a.m.  Let Chad know if you did not get the link and want to attend.  

Our Charity of Choice for 2026 will be Answer the Call. 

Volunteer Opportunities

Members will be at Stone Church next week serving dinner.  Contact Sue if you did not sign up but want to attend and help. 

Sue will be bringing Easter Eggs to stuff at the meeting on the 1th.  She will be there at 7:15 a.m. to get started and we will stuff till the meeting starts and maybe while we meet to help get them done.

Scholarship applications from high school students are rolling in. Alicia will need some help reviewing those.  Please contact her if you are interested in helping.  

Membership Campaign Update

Congratulations to Sonci's team who won the membership campaign.  They will get to pick a charity of choice to receive $2,000 for winning. Congratulations to Sonci Bleckenger, Suzanne Gochis, Gwyn Jones, Chad Mitchell, Mark Simcosky, Kristie DeSelms, and Mary House.  

Board Meeting Notes  

• Shoes for Orphan Souls is coming up soon.  If you would have an interest in taking the lead on this for our club please let Chris know.  It would be sharing information with club members and putting a plan together to help us collect money and shoes for the drive.  

   

• Our Facebook campaign generated 42 leads for us.  These leads are people who clicked a button and said they were interested in learning more about our club.  More information will be coming regarding these individuals.  

   

• Scout Troop 282, who helps with Independence Uncorked, is hosting Pancake Day on February 17 from 6:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church.  All you can eat pancakes, sausage, orange drink, milk and coffee for just $7.
